Christmas Shopping 2.0 HomeThis is a featured page

The world of business has been greatly changed as a consequence of the enormous data bank of information available on the Internet. The Internet has done a wonderful job widening all marketplaces, making them accessible 365 days of the year via online shopping. For example, every year, a record number of people use the Internet during the holiday season to buy Christmas gifts online, and this trend isn't about to stop soon.

According to a recent global study conducted by The Nielsen Company, consumers across the globe are increasingly swapping crowded stores for one-click convenience, as shopping on the Internet becomes an increasingly secure and popular option. According to the research, over 85 percent of the world’s online population have used the Internet to buy something, up 40 percent from two years ago, and more than 50 percent of Internet users are regular online buyers, making online purchases at least once a month.

Shopping online has been a blessing to both buyers and sellers. Comfort and convenience of buying and selling in an online marketplace has gained immense popularity. The convenience factor is the most important advantage shopping online provides. Shoppers can shop from their home, their office, or virtually anywhere else. A credit card, a computer, and an internet connection are all it requires. Thanks to wireless internet, shoppers can even shop while travelling. The comfort provided by shopping online simply has no equivalent.

Credit cards are by far the most common method of payment for online purchases – 60 percent of global online consumers used their credit card for a recent online purchase, whilst 1 in 4 online consumers chose PayPal. Of those paying with a credit card, more than half (53 percent) used Visa.

Thanks to this growing phenomenon, buyers now enjoy the advantage of visiting the market at a convenient time to them, get to browse and choose whatever goods they wish to buy without the glaring eyes of a salesperson looking over their shoulder, allowing them the freedom to proceed with their shopping if they wish, or to simply leave the marketplace if they prefer.

Additionally, increasing costs of gas and petrol and other transportation expenses, as well as increasing costs of living, are a few amongst numerous variables which are accelerating the tendency to shop online. To top it all off, poor weather conditions and extremely busy schedules make a trip to the stores even more difficult.

As a result of these realities, online sellers offer numerous bargains, discount offers and voucher codes to online buyers in a attempt to enhance their sales and their revenues. Most of these offers are introduced during festivals and other special days on the schedule when consumers are very much in a buying mood.

Obviously, customer loyalty is only built when sellers and retailers provide fantastic customer support and service. Nevertheless, the sellers and retailers find it hugely convenient to handle and execute a purchase order and have it delivered at the desired location as per the schedule of deliveries. With assured payments through secured payment gateways, transactions are made secure and easy.

Internet buying isn't the future, it's the present. Anybody not doing this is already late. Therefore, sellers who don't want to be left in the dust must begin now, or risk playing catch-up for the foreseeable future as their rivals earn a larger piece of the pie. The holidays are approaching, and a record shattering amount of customers will undoubtedly buy Christmas gifts online once more this year. Market participants should take advantage of this trend.
